Man Accused Of Driving ATV Recklessly Down Sunrise Highway Issued 63 Summonses

An ATV rider who was part of a group of riders allegedly scaring drivers on Sunrise Highway was arrested and hit with 63 summonses.

John Harley, 26, of Lindenhurst, was busted around 6:25 p.m., Saturday, May 11, near New Highway in Copiague, after Suffolk County Police received numerous 911 calls of a group of dirt bikes and ATVs racing in and out of traffic along the highway, said the Suffolk County Police.

Officers Michelle Maresca and Steven Ripp responded to the area they were able to stop Harley on a Honda TRX 450R ATV, police said.

He was arrested and charged with reckless driving and unlawful fleeing a police officer and issued 63 traffic summonses. The Honda ATV was impounded.
